Flash vs. speedlight advantages

- When we're talking about using flash for photography, there's two kinds of lights we're talking about. We've got the larger studio style strobes, and when I say strobe, it's the same as saying flash. Strobe is a flash, we can interchange them completely. So we've got studio strobes, and we've also got speed lights, and the speed lights are the small ones that you can mount to your camera. Now, there's advantages and disadvantages to each of these. Let's start with the studio strobes, and within studio strobes there are the two kinds. We've got this one here, the blue one is called a monoblock, it's all in one. It's got the light built in the front, and then it's got the power and controls built into the back of it. So you just plug this into the wall, and then you make adjustments to the power right here on the flash unit.
