Focal length planning

- When you're packing up for a photo trip or outing, how do you choose which lenses to bring with you? I suppose the simple answer would be to just bring everything, bring all of your lenses so that whatever lens you need, you know you have it available to you. But that could mean a very heavy camera bag, especially if one of those lenses is a very long focal length lens. So how do you prioritize? How do you make a decision about which lenses you might want to bring on a given trip? Well, the approach that I take is to think about what sorts of subjects I might be photographing on that trip and how relatively close I can get to those subjects, and therefore what sort of focal lengths I might need. I can also just kinda look at my own habits as a photographer. I know that I tend to use certain lenses a lot more than other lenses, and so I can sort of prioritize.
