Focusing manually

- While I usually use the autofocus feature, I sometimes find myself shooting manually. This could be for more control when shooting video, or focus often changes in the middle of a shot, or perhaps a moving subject that autofocus is having difficulty tracking, or perhaps I want to maybe manipulate focus to really push the shallow depth to field, and get a softly focused background. Sometimes when shooting focus for time-lapse, I'll also set it manually. That way the camera doesn't try to change it in between shots. Of course, if there's too little light, you might have to use manual focus anyways. And it's pretty straight forward. In order to manually focus, you need to put the camera into a manual focus method. Now in this case I could just flip this switch here on the side from autofocus to manual. So when I flip that, you see that the focus point is removed, and as I move my hand through, it's not attempting to track. So now what we're looking for is manually focusing, and this is…
