Getting ready to shoot

- Now if you first take the camera out of the box or out of your camera bag, you may need to do a little bit of assembly. Typically, most Nikon cameras have removable lenses. It is possible, if you're using a point-and-shoot or some of the DSLRs, that some of the lenses are fixed. But for the most part, you will be able to exchange lenses and that's one of the key benefits. Let's talk about the process of attaching a lens and getting the camera ready to shoot. First off, make sure that the camera is powered off. You don't want to have the camera on when we remove the body cap here. So check the switch and that it is set to off. Now what you're going to want to do is remove the body cap on the front of the camera. Typically, this is a small twist, and you can remove it. The reason why we have this powered off is so that the sensor isn't charged and pulls in dust. So let's set that aside. Now we take the lens and we remove the cap from the back of the lens.
