Improving focus using controls on the X-T2

- In chapter one we looked at the AF Lock button on the back of the camera, which locks focus and holds focus as long as you keep the button pressed down. The AF Lock button lets you decouple auto focus from metering and can make for speedier shooting in situations where your subject isn't moving, and so there's no need to refocus with every shot. However, having to hold that button down can be cumbersome, so Fuji has built in an option for the AF Lock button. In the Setup menu, under BUTTON/DIAL SETTING, way down at the very bottom you'll find AE/AF-LOCK MODE. By default this is set to AE&AF ON WHEN PRESSING, meaning that the auto focus lock is only on when you're pressing the button. If you change that to AE&AF ON SWITCH, it turns into a toggle, you no longer have to keep the button pressed to keep focus locked. So now you can focus by half pressing the shutter button, then press the AF Lock button to lock that focus and keep it locked until you press the button again. Even a half…
