- So, for this specific shot, we used a whopping $20 worth of gear. I mean, I don't even know if you could call it gear, okay. This was our background, a black tri-fold presenter. And our bounds, our light modifier was exactly the same thing except the white version. But you could've used the black version because all we did was put some aluminum foil on the inside. So I guess in closing, what I want to say is it really doesn't matter how much gear you have or how expensive your gear is, what matters is investing in your knowledge of how to take a great headshot. You can do it with any lens, you can do it with any camera, as long as you know the right settings for that camera, as long as you know how to pose your subjects, and as long as you know where to place that light on your subject. If you can handle those things, you're going to end up with a fabulous headshot.
