- [Steve] I think we all have an opportunity to bring a more intimate viewpoint to our photography. Hi I'm Steve Simon, the passionate photographer and welcome to a brand new edition of Photo Critique of the Week. And this week we're gonna look at the work of Canadian photographer Kanina Holmes, and I wanted to show you Kanina's work because in many of these images that I'm gonna show you, they're her own family being photographed. And I think that when you have access to something, some kind of more personal situation, and of course, what could be more personal than your own family? You have the unique opportunity of really connecting with the viewer when you make your photographs. So the idea of photographing your own children for example, as she has, in a very kind of intimate way. In a way that's just beyond the sort of posed smiley image.
