Lens choice and posing tips

- Okay, everyone, so I want to start this chapter off, I know it's mostly about posing, but we are going to talk a little bit about lens choice, because it's important. Whenever you are photographing faces, you really need to take into consideration the focal length of the lens that you're using to take that headshot. And the reason why I say this is because the wide angle lenses that we have are going to do a little bit of distortion in the middle of the image that you take. So if you're taking an image of a face way zoomed out at 24 millimeters or 16 millimeters in zoom, so very wide zoom, what you're going to do is bulge the middle of the image. And so if your nose is located in the middle of your image, it's going to bulge that area of the frame. Most of the time, I suggest people use a fixed focal length lens, like a prime lens. And you definitely want that lens to be at least 50 millimeters or more telephoto, so a longer lens. But we're not working at the highest end studio…
