- Okay, everyone, so I want to start this chapter off, … I know it's mostly about posing, … but we are going to talk a little bit about lens choice, … because it's important. … Whenever you are photographing faces, … you really need to take into consideration the focal length … of the lens that you're using to take that headshot. … And the reason why I say this … is because the wide angle lenses that we have … are going to do a little bit of distortion … in the middle of the image that you take. … So if you're taking an image of a face way zoomed out … at 24 millimeters or 16 millimeters in zoom, … so very wide zoom, … what you're going to do is bulge the middle of the image. … And so if your nose is located in the middle of your image, … it's going to bulge that area of the frame. … Most of the time, … I suggest people use a fixed focal length lens, … like a prime lens. … And you definitely want that lens to be … at least 50 millimeters or more telephoto, … so a longer lens. … But we're not working at the highest end studio right now. …
