- [Instructor] You have your camera selected, you have the cable connected, you even know what software you're going to use, so what's next? The lenses, the lenses are what's next, and they are the fun stuff, I'm telling you. Three things to look for in a lens. One is, what is the focal length? You don't want it too wide, like 28 millimeters because that's too much background to deal with, you have to clean more areas of your room. You don't want it too narrow because then it's going to feel too tight on you. So somewhere around 35 millimeters, 40 millimeters is ideal. You want a relatively fast, maximum aperture. like f1.8, f2, even up to f2.8, that allows you to soften the background. I'm going to show you an example of that in a minute. And then third thing is, you need to be able to manually focus it because you don't want it on autofocus where it's hunting for your face all the time that's going to drive everyone…
