- [Instructor] Another type of light that we can work with is called side light, and that's where the sun is coming from the side of the subject, and as you can see in this first photograph, it's really clear. We have the sun coming from this side. There's a light side, and there's a dark side. I want to show you some photographs, and also talk about how we can work with side light, and as you look at these photographs, sometimes it will be really obvious, other times maybe a bit more subtle. Like here, you can see there is an illuminated side of the frame, just that little hint of sunshine coming from the right side of the frame in this picture. In this one, you can see it, perhaps on the dad in this family portrait here. You can see his face, one side is lit, the other side is dark. Here are a couple photographs of my kids down at the beach, and again, we see that side light coming in. In this case, you can see their shadows going off to an angle, and it's much more subtle, but…
