- You know you don't need to have a professional camera to get professional results and I'm going to make that point on this edition of Photo Critique of the Week. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, The Passionate Photographer and let's just get to it. Today we're going to talk a little bit about gear, but mostly we're going to talk about photography and what you can do with the tools. You know obviously it's not the camera that makes the picture, it's who's behind the camera that does. But I think generally speaking there's an obsession with gear and you know maybe for good reason. I mean I'm a bit of a gear geek myself. There's so many interests that are satisfied with it. It gets me out in the world, it gets me out of my shell and engaging with people. It's physical, but it's also technical, the technical side.
