- Loop lighting is a really flattering light that looks good on all people. I can't think of anybody I've ever met who didn't look good with loop lighting, so this is one that I really think you should practice using. It's called loop lighting just because we're going to make a little shadow of light on the side of the nose that's kind of loop-shaped. That's it. I don't know why it's called loop lighting, but that's what we're dealing with, and that's what all photographers call it. So here's how we make loop lighting. We just need to get this light swung over, so I'm going to just adjust the C stand. Whenever you make an adjustment to a light stand, always make sure you do it with two hands, and put one hand on the spot that's going to be moved and one hand on the knob that's doing the moving. And we should be albe to just roll this over here, right about like that. Loop lighting is best made from slightly above, as we have here, and from the side. Now, that's a pretty typical loop…
