Manual mode

- If you need to dial in very precise settings, you might choose manual mode. For example, when I shoot video or time lapse, I often use manual controls to avoid any changes in the scene over time. Manual mode gives you full control over both shutter speed and aperture on your camera. The camera's light meter still works, it's just that the camera doesn't actually make any changes to shutter speed or aperture. The choices are really up to you. To switch to manual mode, just make sure that the dial is changed to M. You may have to push the center button to release it, and then change the dial. Now it's on M for manual. Now this works quite well, and what you want to take advantage of is the ability to change aperture. So using our dial here, if I just half press there, I see the screen update, and right now we're at an aperture of 5.6. I can go ahead and start to modify this. There we go. And as I change that back dial, I can go through the full range. There's 2.8, or as small as 32…
