- I'm sure you're already well aware that not all media cards are created equal, and so when you're choosing a memory card for your camera there are some decisions to be made. Obviously you need to consider compatibility. Does your camera take SD cards versus compact flash cards, for example? And you'll want to think about capacity. Essentially, how many photos can you store on a given media card? And you're probably already aware that there are differences in speed from one card to another. These cards actually happen to have a speed rating that is about the same, and yet they're not exactly equal. They have a similar speed when it comes to reading from the card, but not quite so similar when it comes to writing data to the card. And that obviously can impact your speed of capture.
