Optimizing image sharpness and noise

- Before you submit an image, it's important to look for sharpness and noise. Sharpness is the general crispness of the photo. And even though the photo might be in focus, there could be a need to sharpen due to digital compression. Noise is often caused as well by a sensor having to work too hard, such as a low light image or something shot with a high ISO. Let's explore some techniques for cleaning this up. When it comes to checking out details, be sure to zoom in to 100%. This is necessary so you can really judge the overall change in the image itself. Let's click on a tool, like the hand tool here, so we're not using the graduated filter, and I'll go to the detail tab. Now what I'm looking for is an area where I wanna measure details. This looks good. So I'll hold down the option or the alt key, and adjust the sharpness slider. You see that this brings out the overall sharpness.
