Optimizing video sharpness and noise
- Video often suffers the same problem as a photo: noise, grain, or a lack of sharpness. Let's walk through how we can enhance video to have a nice crisp image with no excessive noise. Depending upon your NLE, you may be able to sharpen the video slightly. I find these controls available here in the creative section. What I suggest is zooming at full quality here and zoom in to 100% so you can accurately judge the details. Then, use the sharpen slider. I'll first take it all the way up. And if I toggle that on and off you'll notice both the color change and the sharpness. When it's overdone, we're getting a ringing and a really hard edge there. So I'm gonna back that off just a little bit and that looks pretty good. Let's press play to look at the footage. All in all, very solid. The sharpness is helping. However one thing I also need to be mindful of is what part of the clip we're going to use. So I'm gonna make sure that the shot is framed up, mark my in point and mark my out point…
