- This week on The Practicing Photographer we're going to talk about vignettes. This is just, I'm getting all warm inside. If you've watched any of my printing courses you know that I do a lot of vignetting. I worry that I have a problem actually. I worry that I depend on it too much. I worry sometimes that I'm making up for some deficiency in my composition by relying on vignettes and I go through that worry, and then I decide I just don't care and I do it anyway. So what I want to talk about this week is a time when you might want only half a vignette, when you want to vignette only the top or bottom of an image. This is something that I do from time to time. It's not something I rely heavily on, but when I need it's really great to have. So I'm going to show you one way of doing this.
