Physiology

- Physiology refers to the way in which a living organism or bodily part functions. In this section we will discuss the effects of hyperventilation and dehydration, as well as heat stroke and hypothermia, on an individual. We will also discuss fatigue and stress. Let's get to it. Unlike other airmen certifications, remote pilots are not required to hold a medical certificate, but you cannot operate if you have a reason or know that you have a physical or mental condition that would interfere with the safe operation of the aircraft. It is for this reason that you must self-assess your crew's fitness for flight. Hyperventilation refers to a deficiency of carbon dioxide within the body. It can be the result of rapid or extra deep breathing, due to emotional tension, anxiety or fear. A pilot should be able to overcome the symptoms or avoid future occurrences of hyperventilation by talking aloud, breathing into a bag, or slowing the breathing rate.
