Powering up your camera

- In order to shoot, your camera needs power and in order to get power into the camera, you need a battery. It's pretty straightforward. Now what you'll see here on the bottom of the camera typically is a latch. Press it and then just simply lift and it will open. So let's go ahead here and unlock and pull, and you see it comes open. Now there's going to be a little release lever here. Pressing it will generally unlock the battery and it should slide out of place. Then what you can do is take a charged battery off of the camera charger. Now typically the external charger is going to be important since it's going to make it easy to charge up your batteries. The battery charger itself will have a status indicator as it charges, letting you know how full the battery is. Slip it off the charger and line it up. Now the batteries are only going to fit in one way. You should notice that there's a deliberate shape here. So notice that there's a curve and the battery matches. Now it is…
