Powering up your camera

- When you bought your camera, it likely came with a battery. It might not have been installed and it's generally a good idea to charge it up first. Now, the battery tends to be removable and is usually accessed from the bottom of the camera. Let's go ahead and unclip it here. What you'll notice is that we have a door here on the bottom of the camera, right about here. Usually, this has a small latch so you can press it and it will open up. Your tripod plate may have to remove if it's in the way. Now, if you gently press this button here, the battery ejects. When you look at the batteries, what happens is it's important to pay attention to the shape of the battery. They're designed to only go one way into the camera. The battery itself tends to have a ridged surface. These bumps will only go one way into the camera. Also, the battery has a series of terminals on one side that typically goes into the camera first.
