Printing a Lens Hood

- A lens hood can be an incredibly important or at least helpful accessory, especially with a relatively wide angle lens. And if the sun is anywhere near the side of the lens, coming in from the sides or a little bit in front of the camera, that gives you a greater risk of lens flare, and that calls for a lens hood to shade the front of the lens and help avoid lens flare. But what happens if you've lost your lens hood or you just want to travel lighter? You can actually print lens hoods. You can find a variety of templates at lenshoods.net. It's a very easy process. You start off by literally printing your lens hood onto a sheet of paper, and then with a pair of scissors, you can cut out the shape that is shown there and then close it all together with a little piece of tape. And the result is a paper lens hood just like this.
