- Time-lapse is the process of shooting a sequence of frames, and then stringing them all together to make a movie that shows a dramatic pass of time, in a very short duration. Time-lapse is very popular these days. Both because of regular digital cameras and cellphones. A lot of cellphones have a time-lapse feature built into them now. Time-lapse is a really interesting way of manipulating the perception of time. It allows you to see patterns in motion that you wouldn't normally see, and it just looks cool, but it can look a little bit cooler if you add something to it, and that's motion. Moving your camera between frames, allows you to pan across subjects over the course of several hours, and then play that back very quickly. You can't stand there and move the camera yourself.
