- [Instructor] The photographic portrait can be a beautiful and compelling thing. Hi, I'm Steve Simon and this is Photo Critique of the Week. Welcome. Today we're going to speak about people pictures, more specifically the kinds of portraits you will try and capture when you're on the street. We're talking about portraits of people you meet, portraits of people you see that you would like to photograph and build up the courage to ask, in my experience, it's always a good thing and what makes a successful street portrait, so let's get right to the images and let's start with this image by Wendy Smith. Now you can see that this gentleman here was happy to oblige. He obviously has this cat and is showing the cat to the photographer and thus to us the viewer of the photograph. He's got a great expression.
