Understanding focus points and autofocus

- When you look out onto scene, your eyes need to focus. Now, typically, your brain is going to choose one place to focus on. And a camera really works the same way. The auto-focus mechanism is only able to focus at one particular distance in your scene. Now, if it's working properly, this point should line up with your subject. Your camera has a number of auto-focus points. The exact number is going to vary by model. The more professional a camera is, the more auto-focus points it typically has. As well as newer cameras tend to come with more than previous generations. Hopefully, one of these auto-focus points is going to line up with your subject inside of the viewfinder. Now, the camera is going to use an auto-focus point in an attempt to identify which one of the points is overlapping with the subject.
