Using a focus rail for macro photography

- Macro photography can be a great deal of fun and gives the photographer a variety of options for very unique perspectives on subjects. But macro photography can also be incredibly challenging. Trying to get just the right sharpness. Trying to achieve adequate depth of field. Some real challenges. I'm in Central Park in New York. I found a little bit of nature here. There's actually lots of nature around, but some nice flowers that we found here. And so I'd like to get a nice close-up shot of the interior of those flowers. I'm using a tripod. Trying to shoot macro handheld can be incredibly challenging, to be sure. But even acquiring accurate focus can be a challenge. We do have auto focus available, but then getting that focus in just the right spot, especially with narrow depth of field, not so easy. Fortunately, there is a great piece of gear that can make that task easier and that is a focusing rail. So, here I have a focusing rail by Really Right Stuff. This is my favorite…
