Using picture styles

- When you're shooting in the JPEG format, your camera does a lot of work the moments after you take a picture. The computer inside the camera is going to read the raw data off the image sensor. It then applies a white balance, sharpens the image, and applies compression before writing it to the memory card. Now your camera offers some different styles that you can use to modify how the image is processed. Essentially, it gives the JPEG a bit of character allowing it to punch up the colors or adjust the contrast or the sharpness. These controls are generally available when you're shooting in the creative zones. So first up, make sure that your camera is using one of the creative zones. Programmed auto, shutter priority, aperture priority, or manual. I'll go with aperture priority here. Then press the menu button and make sure that you're shooting in a mode that supports JPEG.
