Using a reflector

- When you have a photographic situation where you need to add a little bit of additional light, maybe to fill in some shadows, or when you have a backlit subject for example. You might automatically think about flash but actually in many cases a simpler solution might be all you need. Such as using a reflector to reflect sunlight onto your subject. Here I have a reflector conveniently packaged up into a smaller size and in this case the reflector includes a silver as well as a gold side. So, I can choose what of color light essentially I want to reflect onto my subject. Then, just figure out where is the sun and hold the reflector up so that I can get some light reflected from the sun onto my subject. And then look to your subject and make sure that you're getting the light onto that subject in the proper location. So for example, with a person that you're illuminating their face. You can even adjust how you aim that reflected light to give a little bit more partial effect. Just…
