Using a remote

- There are many reasons for a remote shutter release. It allows you to trigger the camera without actually getting hands on to the camera. Essentially, it can cut down on vibration or allow you to operate the camera from a distance. Now, we've got a batting cage behind me here and I'm going to take some pictures, but there's a time when I'm taking photos that I don't actually want to be right in front of the ball when it's being pitched. Safety issue, but if I can remotely control the camera it makes it easier to actually trigger the camera and get the shot. The remote shutter release is also great for things like product photography, time lapse photography, and other scenarios. Essentially, you've got one of three choices. You have the ability to use a tethered one that will connect to a camera control port. Sometimes this is a USB port or sometimes it's a specialized port and these are made both by your camera manufacturer or by third parties and this is a physical connection. So…
