Using a remote
- There are many reasons for a remote shutter release. It allows you to trigger the camera without actually getting hands on to the camera. Essentially it can cut down on vibration, or allow you to operate the camera from a distance. Now we've got a batting cage behind me here and I'm going to take some pictures, but there's a time when I'm taking photos that I don't actually want to be right in front of the ball when it's being pitched. Safety issue. But if I can remotely control the camera, it makes it easier to actually trigger the camera and get the shot. The remote shutter release is also great for things like product photography, time-lapse photography and other scenarios. Essentially you've got one of three choices. You have the ability to use a tethered one, that will connect to a camera control port. Sometimes this is a USB port, or sometimes it's a specialized port.
