What makes a good background?

Rich Harrington: Now that we have our images organized, it's time to get ready for the compositing tasks, and I think one of the first things before we even start to composite, you got to know what's going to go behind your subject before you start to really relight or color grade. Abba Shapiro: I mean, there are a lot of great things you can put behind you. You can put like we could be in the Arctic. Rich: Or the desert. Abba: Or we could be underwater swimming or-- Rich: Or my son's favorite one, look, I'm on the moon. Abba: But seriously, we know that there's all these wild crazy backgrounds but what we want to do is we want to give it a natural look. Rich: Yeah, photorealistic. Abba: We want to make sure that it doesn't really look like a Chroma key. It just looks comfortable. Rich: Yeah, there's lots of examples of bad Chroma key out there. We're going to pick some backdrops that are nice and natural. We can go some urban, some gritty, and maybe play with some stadium shots…
