What makes a good photograph?

- Someone who's very good at what they do makes it look easy, and that's true with photography also. There'll be times when I'll look at a photo and it's just so well-executed, I'll think, "Oh, boy, you know, I could've taken that shot," or, "Why didn't I see that?" or, "Why don't I see things like that?" It just looks easy. But if you spend any time out with your camera, you know that taking a good photo is not easy. And today, here on The Practicing Photographer, I would like to remind you of something that you may have already learned, or maybe not. And that is that you don't necessarily know that a photo is good when you shoot it. I am often amazed that I will get back home and the keeper image, the one that I really like from the day's shoot is one that I never would have thought would amount to anything. I was recently out just shooting around the neighborhood while visiting my parents. It's a place I grew up, my eyes are kind of dead to it. I really did not expect to go out and…
