Working with Adobe Portfolio

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. And in this course, we're going to explore how to build a portfolio. We'll be talking specifically about a tool called Adobe Portfolio that's included with your Creative Cloud membership. This tool allows you to easily build a portfolio website, even if you know very little about web programming. In fact, it's a WYSIWYG tool, what you see is what you get. And it's got some great tie-ins to other Adobe apps. For example, if you're already using services like Behance or you're syncing your photos from Lightroom to the cloud, well they're immediately ready to be added to your portfolio site. And if you're sharing design aspects as well such as things that you've created in InDesign or Illustrator, well, those are going to go up to Behance and are ready to use as well. In this course, we're going to focus on how to choose the right portfolio template and then put all of the pieces together to tell a story about you. We'll start by taking a look at what Adobe Portfolio is, what it's good for, and some of the limitations so you know what you can get done. It's a very easy-to-use tool, but it does have a few limitations that you need to be aware of. We'll also talk about choosing from one of the built-in templates, as well as how to customize it. Adobe Portfolio is template driven, a lot like a WordPress site. And there are several themes that you can choose from. It's going to be a combination of your own personal style as well as what each theme supports. They have different designs and options. Plus you can go in and change things like the backgrounds, colors, and fonts. We'll then explore how to add items to your portfolio website. We'll cover both still images and graphic files using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, and others. We'll also show you how to add content from a third-party site with an embed code. We'll talk about some organization strategies, how you can take things and collect them based upon different topics to make it easier for visitors to truly appreciate your work and explore it by going down into a category. I'll also help you take full advantage of how you can customize your site. We'll explore options like an "about you" page so people can find out more about you, the artist, as well as contact information and how to connect or follow on social media. I'll then walk you through all the steps necessary to publish your website as well as show you how you can use your own custom domain name to further your branding. And we'll talk about what happens in case your Creative Cloud membership lapses. How long are your files up there? How do you remove something if you no longer want to share it? I am going to walk you through the full capabilities of this tool and show you how you can get a great looking portfolio website.
