Is a cinema lens right for you?

- The history of photography and the history of cinema have long been intertwined. You've probably seen the famous photos, 19th-century photos that Muybridge shot of a running horse. He did this to try to prove that a horse's feet, at some point, are always off the ground. Those sequences of images led directly to motion pictures. Then after that, we get the 35 millimeter still frame standard, which came from motion picture film. There's always been this cross-pollination, lots of merging of those two different image-making pursuits. And in the digital realm, things are not any different now. My still digital cameras can shoot video, as well as still images. That change has brought a lot, or rather, that confluence has brought a lot of changes to cameras. Cameras now have different types of sensors, they have lots of different modes, they've got their output features, and so on and so forth. One thing that's also changed…
