- In a recent Practicing Photographer, we talked to RC Rivera, a commercial photographer who works in San Francisco. RC's got a thriving commercial photography business, and in that episode, he talks about how he got there, and how he built up his current career. There are a lot of different ways to approach the problem of, how do you make a living as a photographer? About a month ago, I got to again teach a workshop with a photographer that I really love and love teaching with, a guy named Kurt Markus. After the workshop, we were sitting in a circle with the students and the question came up that always comes up of well, where do I go from here? How do I take this and turn it into a career? And Kurt gave a very interesting answer. He said, "You need to find the thing "that you like to photograph and stick with that."
