Is raw capture on a smartphone better?

- A smartphone, when used for photography, essentially behaves as a point and shoot camera. And so, as you might expect, for a point and shoot camera, it's very common for smartphones to use JPEG capture. Some newer models, also support the HEIC format, the high efficiency image codec format. But you can also capture in the equivalent of raw capture using certain apps, apps that are aimed on quote unquote professional photography with the smartphone, for example. And in fact, the Adobe Lightroom app for mobile devices for iPhones and Android smartphones, for example, provides a raw capture option. The Adobe DNG file format is what's used for that raw capture, but it extensively gives you better quality. So, is there actually a quality advantage to using that raw capture for a smartphone?
