Choosing a custom white balance
- [Man] Your camera will often try to choose the right white balance when making a photo. Particularly if you're camera is set to auto white balance mode. This analyzes the scene and attempts to get natural color. Now the white balance is quite important because it really syncs up all of the colors. If the camera is set incorrectly, then you'll see a warming or a cooling of the shot that doesn't look natural. What we can do after the fact though is easily fix this by finding something that's white or neutral gray. Let's take a look at this portrait here and we'll open it up. In this particular case, the color is quite nice but it's not exactly natural. What I want to do is go to the edit menu and take a look at the white balance. You'll see here, we can chose to sample on a neutral gray point, a skin tone, or the temperature. Let's try clicking first on this grayish background. And you see it shifted the colors slightly.…
