Setting the black point for crisp blacks
- Now, we've talked about the different sliders before and we've already mentioned black point, but I want to revisit it because this really allows you to control what is black in an image. The black point effectively sets the contrast in an image. So if the image looks washed out or really lacks contrast, boosting the black point is incredibly helpful. Let's go to another image here that's very similar and this one really suffers from the problems of exposure. We'll click the edit button and choose Auto, which helps, but it's still not there. As we push the brightness and the contrast, it's moving in the right direction, but it's not right. Let's use the eyedropper here for white balance and click on something that should be neutral. And that helps restore things a bit. And as we continue to bring up the color, you see things come back. The image is looking quite a bit better, but the blacks just don't really have the…
