Want to edit photos with Photos for macOS?

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington, and today we're going to be exploring Photos for macOS. This is the native software application that's included with your Mac. It was designed to be the replacement for both iPhoto and Aperture if you're a long-time Mac user, and today my goal is to help you understand how to get the most out of the application, whether you're brand new or you're coming with some past experience from one of those two other applications. You're going to learn how to get the most done with this application, and it's surprisingly powerful when it comes to developing your images. There are a lot of features, but many of them will seem a bit hidden and need to be unlocked. So we're going to walk you through all of the essential adjustments that you can make when you're working with photos. This is an accelerated look that goes deep into the features that are going to be used to enhance your images. We'll start by taking a look at how to approach color correction when working with the application. We'll then move on to getting the right exposure and tonal adjustments for proper white balance, as well as contrast in the image. We'll then take a look at how to work non-destructively when working in Photos for macOS. Then we'll go through the editing interface and talk about how to make tonal adjustments for proper exposure. Once we've locked that down, we'll adjust color for both saturation and the removal of color casts, which are unwanted colors that could be present in an image. You'll also learn how to create dynamic black and white images and talk about some of the finishing adjustments, such as sharpening, removing noise, and adding vignettes. We'll also explore the workflow of using third-party applications with Photos for macOS, which includes the ability to use extensions to enhance the image, as well as for other options, like removing lens issues or lens correction. We've got a lot to cover, so let's jump in and get started.
