- How'd it go? Hopefully you got good overall exposure, while being able to take advantage of emphasizing the dynamic range, as well as sharpening and noise reduction to bring out the details in the image. Definition should've come, really, in handy, because you were able to take the photo from this to something like this. Let me show you how I did it. With this image, it really started about maximizing the dynamic range. I opened up the histogram so I can see it. And while there's a nice spike here in the highlights, it's pretty flat in between. I clicked Auto here to analyze the light. And it's looking better, but we really need to recover these highlights a bit more to rescue the sky. And that helped a lot. Lifting the shadows is also important to really fill in the front of the building. So the broken stained glass pieces comes through. But a good, crisp, rich black point for those pure shadows is quite helpful.…
