Adding transparency to an image in Photoshop Elements

- Earlier, we discussed the benefits of PNG files. I wanted to show you how those files were often created, using the advanced tools in Photoshop to select an area, and erase it. Let's start by opening up an image. I'll go to folder 5.4, and there's two images here to open. Choosing part of an image is pretty simple in Photoshop. There are some easy tools for this. You'll notice in the upper left corner, the Quick Selection tool. Now, there are other choices down here, but choose the Quick Selection option. You can adjust the size of the brush, and simply drag through the photo to choose. Anywhere you see the little dotted lines, it means that Photoshop is going to work with that part of the photo. If you get something selected that you didn't want, you can hold down the alt key, or the option key to click and remove. Once you get a basic selection, click the button called Refine Edge.
