849 Hand turkey 2019

- Hey gang, this is Deke McClelland. Welcome to Deke's Techniques. If you live in the United States then you know that November is the month of Thanksgiving, which is a time when children from sea to shining sea create hand turkeys, which is when you trace your hand and turn it into a turkey. Now, I first visited hand turkeys in 2012, which may lead you to think, "Gee, Deke, you're repeating yourself." No, I'm not. I mean, is every Spiderman movie the same? Clearly, no. And the same goes for hand turkeys. Except no worn out backstory, and twice as flexible. A hand turkey can be vicious, like a junkyard dog. It can be Admiral Hand Turkey of the High Seas. It can be a very accurately rendered version of my own grizzled hand. It can be the Hand Turkey of Oz, which I quite like. It can be aqueous and strangely romantic. It can be an angry Hulk turkey with these oddly placed abs. And it can be these lovely love turkeys, which I created for my wife, whom I actually married on Thanksgiving Day. Aww, aren't we adorable? And finally, we have Spider Turkey, which doesn't really subscribe to the norms of hand turkeys. There's no beak on the thumb. But see, he's less of a hand turkey and more of a Spider Hand. You are a national treasure, Spider Hand Turkey. This country owes you a debt of thanksgiving gratitude. So obviously, hand turkeys are the most versatile art form of our time, which is why I'm including every one of these images as a layered PSD file that you can download with my exercise files. Create your own variations, and even post them in my site, deke.com. Meanwhile, over this and the next two weeks as we head into Thanksgiving Day, I'll be exploring hands and turkeys as I truly hope you've never experienced them before. And it all starts this very week in the very next movie.
