- I love abstract art, both looking at it, and making it with paints, pencils, a computer, a camera, or you guessed it, a desktop scanner. In fact, I'd say that a desktop scanner, in spite of being an office machine, I'd say it's easily the equal to any of my art-specific tools, when it comes to taking ordinary subject matter and turning it into unconstrained, sometimes chaotic, and even downright messy looking abstract imagery. For example, watch this, I'm gonna use my Epson V39 to scan a legal document, and there's no surprise there, right? Except that I'm gonna turn my scanner loose on this thing, and have it record an image while I move the document around in crazy circles, and there you go, instant abstract art. I'll go ahead and tint and vignette this thing in Photoshop, just 'cause I like that look even better. I'm not restricting myself to just legal documents here, or even to flat things.
