Add grain
- [Instructor] Adding grain, a subtle amount of grain, to your image can be an effective way of giving that image a bit more presence. These days, digital images might be a bit too perfect and we want to just humanize them a bit and make them look a bit more like film or like slides. And grain is one of the things that we can do in order to achieve that. Here's my starting file. There are several ways in which we can add grain. But all of them involve, first of all, converting the background layer to a smart object so that we can apply that grain in a nondestructive way and we can also go back and change our mind about exactly how much grain is applied. So, I'm going to show you three different ways. The first is to come to the Artistic group and to Film Grain. I'll set this back to its default amount by Command clicking on the Default button. And we see that the default is, in this context, way too much. And it's actually, the Intensity slider is causing areas of the sunset to blow…
