Add texture with a layer mask
- [Instructor] As an alternative to applying your textures through the use of blend modes and opacity, you can use layer masks. In this file, I have applied a layer mask to my image layer, and beneath that, I have added a layer of solid color. Let's see how this works. I'm going to switch to my beginning file, and I have two layers, my starting image layer, and a layer of texture. Now rather than change the blend mode of this texture to say something like overlay which is going to combine the colors of the texture with the color of the layer beneath, instead what I can do, is set the blending mode back to normal, press Command or Control + A to select all, Command or Control + C to copy, hide my texture layer, activate my image layer, add a layer mask, and then I need to make sure that I'm actually on the layer mask, and paste the image into the layer mask.
