Adding a 3D camera

The first step after you set up the composition is to add the 3D camera. Since we're working with historical sources, we don't have any metadata. So we need to evaluate the shots and make a good guess. Let's open up the first two here called Rigged. And I'll just double-click to open the compositions. Now up here on the Comp window, I'll set this to one view initially. Using the comma or the period keys, you can quickly zoom in or out. Now in order to make these scenes 3D, I need to click on the Switches and Modes here. And I'm going to enable the bottom layers as 3D layers. This top layer is just emerged copy or the original file that I can reference as I start to animate. Now I'll add the camera. This is done by choosing Layer, New, Camera. In this case, the scene is a relatively wide scene. So using the preset menu here, I'm going to choose a 24-millimeter lens. I'll also choose to Enable the Depth of Field…
