Adding spot lights

A spotlight tends to be very directional. It allows you to keep a subject as the focus and everything else is pushed out into the shadows. It also tends to have a rounder shape. Let me show you how it works. I'm going to switch to the soldiers marching in the streets. And let's add a spotlight to this scene. Layer, new, light. We'll choose the spotlight option and click okay. Now let's switch to two views. On the left here, I see the top view, and on the right, the active camera. Let's switch this from top to custom view one, and here's our spotlight. What's nice about it is you can really start to judge the effects here. And I see that that's pointed right on our subjects. Now it's getting pretty bright, so if I want, I can grab that and pull it back along the z axis. And notice how as the light gets closer, it starts to affect things.
