Adding texture to a shape layer

- An easy way to add a texture to a shape layer is to pace the texture into the layer mask. This creates a very different looking effect than adding the texture as a layer and then using one of the blend modes to composite the texture with the layers below. Let's take a moment to look at both of the techniques. So in the layers panel, I have some shape layers on the left that are inside of a layer group and I have a duplicate of that on the right hand side. So I'll hide the shapes on the right at first, I want to use the bright texture layer in order to create a texture. And in the first instance on the shapes on the left, I'll just apply it using a blend mode but I only want it to be displayed where there is actual content or shapes in the layer group below so I'll create a clipping mask by selecting the layer menu and then create clipping mask.
