Adjusting leading and paragraph spacing

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to adjust leading and paragraph spacing, both of which control the amount of vertical space between lines of type. So I'm going to start things off by zooming in on my paragraphs, and then, with the type tool still selected, I'll go up to the options bar and click on that panel icon to bring up the character panel. Then notice this option right next door to the size value, it looks like it says set the leading, but that word is actually pronounced letting. And it's the amount of space between a line of type and the one above it. By default, it's set to auto, which is 120% of the type size. And so because the type size is set to 12 point, the leading is 12 times 1.2, which is 14.4 points. But you can override that if you want to. If you wanted to move the text closer together, then you could choose something like 12 point. And any time the type size and leading values match each other, that's known as solid letting.
