Anatomy of a shot: Strobe at high shutter speed

- [Deke] In this, our final examination of the anatomy of a shot, we're going to take a look at firing a strobe at a high shutter speed. And this, by the way, is the solution you've been looking for. And so, once again, there's nothing we're going to do about that sun. However, we can limit its effects by shooting at a higher shutter speed. - [Hergen] So here we are. We've got our strobe. We push that shutter release. Our strobe's going to fire. Remember that strobe will fire in 1/2000th of a second, but we're limited in the shutter speed that we can use to that X-sync speed, which, in this case, we're going to set at 1/250th of a second. So for that 1/250th of a second, we're still going to get a little bit of ambient light coming in, as you can see, than striking that sensor. We're also getting that strobe light hitting the sensor as well. So our strobe stops firing, and our shutter closes, as well. So the sensor was only exposed to that ambient light for the minimum amount of time…
