Applying a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to the selection

- [Instructor] Now that we have the couch selected, I can go into the new Adjustment Layer icon and select Hue and Saturation. This will create a Hue and Saturation Adjustment Layer. Notice that the selection was applied to this adjustment layer as a layer mask. A layer mask allows you to hide parts of a layer without having to delete pixels. In this case, we're hiding the effect of this adjustment layer from all areas except the couch. In the Properties panel, you'll see three sliders, Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. If you drag the Hue slider, you will shift the hue of your couch. The values displayed in the box reflect the number of degrees of rotation around a color wheel from the original color of the pixel, which is why the couch turns orange when we set the Hue slider to blue.
